Nahum lived during the time of the very wicked and oppressive empire of Assyria. He was given a divine word about their destruction. A word which was “good news” and “peace” for God’s people, and the whole world (Nah. 1:15, 3:19). Part of the good news of Jesus is that the enemy of humanity has been defeated! Christ has defeated the deadly powers of sin and satan! In Christ there is joy and peace. He is our Deliverer! ”The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble.
